This is one of the famous liver birds, Bella, she perches on top of the Liver Building, looking out to sea. She is said to watch for the seamen to return safely home, whilst her mate Bertie looks into the city, watching over the seamen’s families.
This is the story we where told as kids, we were also told that if the birds where to fly away the River Mersey would burst its banks and flood the city. A bit scary! I always checked they where there when at the pier head.
This is one of my many Liverpool Landmark paintings, to see more, visit my shop. Thanks for looking,
Bella
