A close-up portrait of one of Antony Gormley's army of life-size iron statues that look out to sea from Crosby, Liverpool. The figures spread over 2 miles of Merseyside’s lovely coastline.
The statues are submerged and revealed as the tide comes in and goes out. The battering over time from the sea has caused corrosion and oxidation including rust, moss, molecules, plant, and marine life. The painting captures this in great detail, bringing the figure to life with texture, color, and depth.
This is just one of my many Liverpool land mark themed paintings. Visit my gallery to see the whole collection. and discover how each piece beautfully complements the cities enduring spirit.
