One of an army of one hundred, life-size iron statues that look out to sea from Crosby Beach approx. six miles north of central Liverpool. The figures spread over 2 miles of Merseyside’s lovely coastline.
The statues are the creation of the world-famous artist Antony Gormley and have been in place since 2005. They are submerged and revealed as the tide comes in and goes out. The battering over time from the sea has caused corrosion and oxidation including rust, moss, molecules, plant, and marine life. The painting captures this in great detail, bringing the figure to life with texture, color, and depth.
This is just one of my Crosby and Waterloo paintings. Visit my shop to see the whole collection. and discover how each piece beautfully complements this lovely area of our city.
