This is the bank on the corner visible from behind the Bus Shelter at Penny Lane. Whilst waiting at the bus shelter, Paul jotted down the things he saw, including the barber’s shop, the nurse selling poppies and the banker. He later turned these notes into the word of the song,
“On the corner is a banker with a motorcar
And little children laugh at him behind his back
And the banker never wears a mac
In the pouring rain, very strange”
The bank at the time was the Heathfield Branch of Martins Bank Limited.
This is just one of my many Beatles themed paintings. Visit my gallery to see the whole collection. and discover how each piece beautfully complements their enduring spirit.
