Paul McCartney was inspired to write the hit “Penny Lane” whilst sitting at this bus shelter, which is referenced in the song.“Behind the shelter in the middle of the roundabout”
When the boys were young they used to meet here, as it was centrally located for all of them. Whilst waiting for the bus, Paul jotted down the things he saw, including the barber's shop, the bank, and a nurse selling poppies. He later turned these notes into the song, which celebrates this time in their life.
This is just one of my many Beatles themed paintings. Visit my gallery to see the whole collection. and discover how each piece beautfully complements their enduring spirit.
